This tubing makes for a phenomenal stethoscope. As a family physician, I've used it ever since my Pediatric Cardiology rotation in medical school in 1997. It is more flexible to fit in my jacket, with superior sound transmission, and never cracks.
The downside - it is kind of slippery, and sometimes slips off the ear piece. So I just use it in clinic. For house calls and hospital weekends, I use a Welch Allyn. But for clinic, where the majority of murmurs or pneumonia is picked up, the original Cardioscope stethoscope with Readyflex can't be beat by any Welch Allyn or other non-electronic stethoscope. I have had ped cardiologists very impressed at the mild murmurs I have picked up on babies and kids with this. So even despite the slip-offs, it is more than worth it.
